Thank you for your interest in our high school program opening this September at Monadnock Waldorf School. Our pioneering high school is looking for freshmen and sophomore students and their families to join our commitment to Waldorf education at the high school level. This is an education designed to hone skills in an atmosphere of academic excellence and, even more, to prepare young people to contribute fully to the tasks of life with courage, compassion, and conviction.
A spirit of active interest, engagement and inquiry permeates our classes and activities through which we foster creativity, self-responsibility, and a caring approach to others, to nature, to the world and to one’s self. At Monadnock Waldorf School High School you will find these values modeled by the teachers, school staff, and especially by the older students.
What are the truths of the world and what questions does the adolescent need to ask to understand her or his place in this world? Developing the capacities for healthy judgment and for creative and independent thinking, engaging ideals and values that will be tested in real-life experiences throughout the high school years, and exploring these questions with peers and teachers worthy of trust and admiration will set our students on a search for their own answers.
Our high school is housed in the beautiful Tilden School building on School Street in Keene. Occupying it has been made possible by our working closely with a small group community-minded people and philanthropic members of the Putnam family. This grand old building with its 12-foot ceilings and light-filled, spacious classrooms has been serving students for 125 years. The historic structure and its location are well suited to our plan for an in-town high school program enriched by, and also enriching, the life of downtown Keene, which serves as our extended campus.

We welcome applications from students in Waldorf schools, in public schools, in independent schools, and from those who have been home-schooled. Please do not hesitate to contact me or the school with any questions you may have or to arrange a visit and interview.
