Nursery-Kindergarten Faculty

  Sondra Nelson, Lead Teacher. 2015-2016

Sondra is completing her Waldorf Early Childhood Training at Sunbridge Institute in Spring Valley, New York.  She is currently the Lead Aftercare Teacher at the Upper Valley Waldorf School in Quechee, Vermont where she is also the Kindergarten Assistant.  Sondra brings a love for being in the outdoors with children, insight into the young child, and commitment to beauty and rhythm in the classroom.

Sondra holds a Master’s Degree in Public Health from the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and Bachelor of Science Degree in Health Science from Worcester State University.  She has been an interpreter at Denali National Park in Alaska, a teacher for Nature’s Classroom in Ohio and a volunteer on organic farms in New Zealand.


Eliza Murphy, Lead Teacher, 2015-2016 

Eliza has completed the Level I Waldorf Early Childhood Training through Sophia’s Hearth Professional Development and will complete Level II in the summer of 2016.  She also holds a Master’s Certificate in Nature-based Early Childhood Education from Antioch New England University.

Eliza focuses on introducing young children to the natural world. She has been a support teacher in the early childhood program at Monadnock Waldorf School and has been the lead teacher for two- and three-year-olds at Wild Roots Nature School at Stonewall Farm.  She has also provided child care through her home-based program, Little Pear Tree Children’s Garden and has been a toddler teacher at the Harrisville Children’s Center. Eliza and her husband Jeff are co-owners of Brewbakers Café in Keene and have three children at Monadnock Waldorf School. 



  Marguerite Gadbois
  Libby Haddock, Parent/Child program Libby has been teaching young children for more than 30 years. For nine years Libby taught at the Well School in Peterborough, NH and for 20 years she taught full-time at Monadnock Waldorf School. Since her retirement from full-time teaching, Libby has been serving as a mentor for Waldorf Early Childhood teachers in schools throughout New England and mentors students in the Early Childhood Program at Sunbridge Institute in Spring Valley, N.Y. Libby's kindergarten training was completed at Forrest Row in Sussex, England in 1991. Libby completed a three-year training program in puppetry and performs along with head teacher Anne as part of the Cobb Meadow Puppeteers. Libby served on the board of Sophia's Hearth Family Center for 10 years and is an ongoing board member at Cobb Meadow. She and her late husband, Jim Haddock, are the parents of three sons and eight lovely grandchildren. Libby loves toy-making, gardening, searching for wild mushrooms, travel and, most of all, children.
